In a second step, e-invoices are digitally signed or encrypted.

Particularly in the context of legal requirements, such as those stipulated by the EU eIDAS directive or (inter)national e-invoicing rules, the requirements for authenticity, integrity and confidentiality of electronic documents are increasing. The digital signature ensures the authenticity of the invoice and proves that it cannot be changed, while encryption ensures a protected transmission path and mandatory access protection (e.g. with a password or token-protected link) so that unauthorised persons cannot access this sensitive data - especially in the case of sensitive B2G or B2B communication channels.

For the first time, communication with the signature pad can take place directly via the network. This means that the signature pad no longer needs to be connected to a computer - only an Ethernet connection is required. As a result, an unlimited number of users can access the same network device to request signatures.

In addition, the next generation of signature pads no longer require driver software. The technology inside the next generation of signature pads is able to "render" documents, capture and embed the signatures, encrypt the data to the highest standard and finally deliver the signed document back automatically. This makes the device the fastest step-over signature pad ever produced.

While standard signature pads require you to specify where the electronic signature should be placed, the next generation allows you to sign anywhere on the document. If your workflow specifies a particular place for the signatures, the pad can easily handle this too. Of course, all of this is done with the same high security standards StepOver is known for.

The advantages of electronic signatures are clear - in addition to reducing the flood of paper, it simplifies and accelerates business processes enormously and at the same time minimises the potential for errors. Once signed, the signed documents are immediately available for archiving and retrieval in the SAP ® system, regardless of location.
